Æthirus (pronounced /eɪθəɹʌs/[1]) is one of the main characters of Order of Tales. He is a Shade-kin with a missing horn, which was lost under unknown circumstances and is often concealed under a large hat. He is first encountered after Koark pursues Thorka to a meeting-place outside of Tenshells. There, Æthirus is to hand over possession of the Bottle Woman to the Blackbird Captain. However, Æthirus reveals his rebellious agenda, killing Thorka in a swift treasonous act. In later encounters, his complex motives are revealed to Koark and Bottle Woman, showing him to be both an antagonist and a possible ally.
