Dorlish Wood
From Rice Boy Wiki
The Dorlish Wood is a vast forest in western Acirca, that stretches between the Matchwoods to the north and Lonely Land to the south. It is notoriously hard to navigate, as the living Strinnial trees that make up the forest are known to change and grow rapidly, to the detriment of any permanent trails. The Dorlish Wood is visited in both Rice Boy and Order of Tales.

Dorl
The largest known settlement to exist in the Wood is Dorl, which is located near the Wudstream, a branch of the Sunk River. The date of its foundation is unknown, although Dorl's history seemingly traces back as far as the Green Age. Circa Red 234, the village is composed of 150-200 buildings, each made by coaxing Strinnial trees to grow in the shape of a house-frame. Besides the buildings, many inhabitants of Dorl live underground or in caves. There is only one permanent stone road, which leads 50 miles northeast to the Heart of the Wood. This road has existed longer than Dorl itself, and no trees grow to hinder its path.[1]
In Order of Tales, Koark first meets T-O-E in Olo's Bar, which is located in Dorl.
The Heart of the Wood
The Heart of the Dorlish Wood is a special place in the forest, as it is the source of all the Wood's other trees. According to Negat the Tall, the Heart, in the Green Age, was the site where Negat transformed into the tree called Mother. Her seeds were spread to form the Dorlish Wood by a nameless boy, who later became known as the Tree Keeper. Eventually, when Mother died, she was replaced in the Heart by the tree Daughter.
On p087, the Tree Keeper leads Rice Boy to the Heart of the Wood. There, Rice Boy is shown Ridrom's Prophecy, which is kept in a stump inside Daughter's trunk.
