Help:Guidelines
From Rice Boy Wiki
This is basically an FAQ (although it doesn't really have questions). Don't worry about taking any of these rules too seriously (content ones especially). Unstated are the sorts of general ones, like not spamming and writing in an encyclopedia-ish style.
Content Guidelines
- Try not to write too many spoilers: For some characters this may be unavoidable, but in general, don't reveal any major plot points or important secrets about characters.
- Separate real and fictional statements: Since this wiki is concerned with works of fiction, we have to deal with "world-internal" facts as well as "external/descriptive" facts. Real Wikipedia sometimes gets pissy about world-internal stuff, but as long as we don't mix the two up, peaceful coexistence between facts and "facts" seems ideal.
Style Guidelines
- Plural is preferred: For things that take plurals (namely, species names), use those as the links. Thus, it's Hornèds, not Hornèd (the second should be Hornèd).
- Of course, there is an exception; some categories have usually been named in the singular.
- Keep things organized: This means, make sure to use an infobox when appropriate, and add a category or two to pages/files that need 'em. Also, check the existing categories first before making your own!
- Don't include titles, usually: When creating a new page or linking an existing one, do not include the character's title. Thus, Teller Themb is preferable to Teller Themb, since this allows for Teller Themb. However, when writing out a name in bold at the beginning of an article, include the character's titles in the bolded section, as in Pronomb.
- Use the full month names: As in, don't shorten "September" to "Sept". I guess this is for the benefit of international readers? Basically this is just a consistency thing.
