Koark (pronounced /koɹk/[3]) is the main protagonist of Order of Tales. He is the last Teller of Väine's lineage in the Order of Tales, an ancient storytelling organization of Overside. He was born to Duke Teller Themb and Duchess Strael in Red 190.
At the age of 13, in Red 203, Koark moved with his family to his father's castle in Skystem. He lived there for 16 years until, in Red 219, the rogue Teller Gerrah attacked the castle, killing his parents and setting the castle aflame. Koark escaped on a mount from the stables, Potok, and he wandered Acirca in search of his father's lost tale, The Ascent of the Bone Ziggurat. A chance encounter with The One Electronic in Red 234, who promises him information on The Ascent, leads Koark to meet the Bottle Woman and get involved in the re-ignition of an ancient war.
