Kom's Wood

Kom's Wood is a forest of exotic translucent trees located in northwestern Acirca, surrounding Imfort. The trees were planted by the explorer Kom in the middle Blue Age, who came to western Acirca from Esterteng.[1] The forest was nurtured by the Hornèds of the surrounding Hornspine, who tended the forest so that its trees could be used as building material.
The material of the trees is known as Kom's wood (with a lower-case W), and it is "stronger than stone" and "lighter than metal".[2] However, it is vulnerable to fire,[3] so it can be worked and shaped into whatever tools are desired. Implements made of Kom's wood are used in all Hornèd settlements. Koark receives a sword made of Kom's wood from Captain Artika of Imfort, which survives brief contact with Æthirus' alchemical fire in a fight between the two.
Trees of Kom's wood can no longer be found anywhere else but in Kom's Wood.
