Matchwoods

The Matchwoods is a large forest in western Acirca just north of the Dorlish Wood. It is famously the home of Rice Boy and Rosemary. The woods get their name from its distinctive trees, which grow in the shape of large matches. The Sunk River runs through the middle of the forest.
Popping Plants
During the night, the Matchwoods transforms, due to the thriving presence of "popping plants" that grow on the forest floor and in clearings. While during the day they look like small red spheres atop black stems, at night their stems detach from the ground and the body of the plant becomes warm and bioluminescent as it floats through the air.
The popping plants are apparently edible, as Rosemary commonly will grab them out of the air as they float. However, she spits out the stem afterward, which may be due either to inedibility or personal dislike. The plants taste "bland and dry", and "sort of sweet", similar to banana chips.[1]
