The four Machine Sons

The Machine Sons-- Omirm, Omon, Omerr, and Omo-- were the four Machine Men that were created by Omem, the first Machine. They were each "wrought from the earth" of Overside, and share in Omem's "portion of the breath that gave him life", which he received from the Giant Äm. While the Sons were smaller than their father, they were faster and smarter than he was.[1]

As described in Machine Dominion, the Machine Sons built four towers from which to observe the world. One such tower was the Iron Tower, which plays a part in Ridrom's Prophecy. Omirm's tower was south of the Estring Mountains, near Chira, while Omo's was near the eventual site of the Black Teeth.[2] From these towers, the Machine Sons saw the emergence of the New People, and built an army of soldiers "like themselves" to conquer the newcomers. This army later became the first population of Machine Men, and after the defeat of Obilik, the Machine Sons presided over the Machine Dominion. During this time, the Machine Sons were known as the Machine Lords.

After the fall of the Dominion and the death of Omirm at the hands of Rog, Omo and the surviving Machine Men (which may have included Omon and Omerr) retreated to the Black Teeth. Omo then cursed the Machine Men, removing their immortality, causing them to live only a few centuries.
