Dahm's notes on Sahta Script from 2010

Sahta Script is the third invented writing system created by Evan Dahm for use in his comics, where it is the native script of the Sahta Empire. The name for the writing system comes from Dahm's notes, which can be seen to the right. Like Seen-Script and Machine-Script, Sahta Script is roughly phonetic.

Sahta Script differs from Dahm's other writing systems in that it is an abugida (or potentially an abjad), a type of system where vowels are written as secondary marks around the more-prominent consonants. Sahta Script, like Machine-Script, does not mark word boundaries, although this effect is more noticeable with Sahta Script. Words can (and do) flow into each other naturally, especially when a word that begins with a vowel follows one that ends with a consonant. This has made transcription of Sahta Script somewhat more difficult than transcription from Dahm's other systems.

Danke, a member of the Koala Wallop forum, has created a "Sahtan" generator to go along with his ones for Seen-Script and Machine-Script.[1]

Sahta Script in Vattu and elsewhere can be found transcribed or translated on the Sahta Script translations page.
