The Shira (also known as a "Shira raptor", or "axe bird" by non-Fluters) is a predatory bird native to the Esterteng. Shira raptors are easy to recognize by the bright red plumage on their wings, tail, and around their beak. Shira are natural predators of the rodent-like Chinta.[1]

Early in Vattu, Shira raptors appear when there is a change in scene.[2][3][4] A Shira is also featured on the Vattu teaser poster, which shows Vattu standing under a tree by the River Tarria.[5]

Its name was first revealed on the animal model sheet that Dahm posted to twitter.[6]
