Sunk, on p011

Sunk is a swampland at the southern tip of western Acirca. It is formed by the terminus of the Sunk River, which splits into a large delta that covers the peninsula before emptying into the surrounding oceans. Frog-Men make up the majority of the kingdom's population. The swampland of Sunk is valuable for the filarmium ore deposits underneath.

After the tumultuous events of Rice Boy, the fate of Sunk is unknown.

History

The Kingdom of Sunk was founded in the early Red Age by the Frog-Man Flutch.[1] Since then, there have been 27 kings of Sunk, most recently Gortch, Spatch, and Spatch II.[2]

Early in the second Red century, Sunk's king Flutch III began a war with Tenshells, which at the time was the defacto ruler of the west Acircan waterways. The military of Tenshells was easily able to keep the upstart Frog-Men from conquering any land, but eventually the Oceanqueen Slent decided to cease the warfare. As depicted in "The Treaty of Tenshells" in Warriors, Tenshells and Sunk signed a peace treaty in Red 115, which also allocated the eastern Wustersea around the Boiling Bay to Sunk.

During the time of King Gortch, in the eighth Red century, Sunk was a "thriving, diverse kingdom"[3] with inhabitants from many lands. However, all non-Frog-Men were expelled once Spatch took the throne. Sunk became a theocracy after that point.

Emblem

While the original royal symbol of Sunk was a series of three yellow teardrops on a blue field[4], this changed after Spatch's death. The symbol was changed to the image on the front of the Book of Spatch: Spatch's handprint in black on a red field.[5] As explained by a Frog-Man warrior, the colors are "black for the passing of the father; red for the blood of the enemy".[6]

However, the currency of Sunk features the old emblem of Sunk on one side, with the other featuring an image of a Frog-Man king (likely Flutch or Spatch).[7]
