Suntown

Suntown is a major city in western Acirca, and the setting of some scenes in the beginning and end of Rice Boy. It is a major cosmopolitan area, and the center of culture for much of Acirca. Its architecture emphasizes domes and arches, as well as long stairways. Numerous flags with the emblem of Suntown hang from buildings, and graffiti and posters cover many walls.

History
Old Suntown
Suntown was first built in the Green Age, in the western Mountain Ring near the desert Skortch. It was above an unnamed Linking City, which joined Overside and Underside. However, after the arrival of the Plague, the Linking Cities were shut, and Old Suntown was razed.
"New" Suntown
In the early Red Age, Suntown was rebuilt at or near the same location as Old Suntown. The nearby Linking City, by this time, was likely abandoned or destroyed (as only Seen remained of the Linking Cities).
The new Suntown was built in a circular shape, with a Town Hall at the center. The city also had four large gardens, as well as a Tree of Thought. The symbol for Suntown resembles the arrangement of the city.
War with Whetton
Around the seventh Red century, Suntown was invaded by the people of Whetton. Their attack was an attempt to secure Suntown's Tree of Thought, to resupply Whetton with the fruit the Whettons had become addicted to. Calabash was present at the time, and aided Suntown in the defense of the Tree. However, the people of Suntown could not stop the Whettons, so they were forced to burn down their own Tree. This ended the war, as the Whettons only desired the fruit of the Tree.
The Hideous Child Tavern
A notable Suntown institution is the Hideous Child Tavern, whose bar is tended by Suzy. Calabash is a frequent patron, and he takes T-O-E there at the start of Rice Boy.
A glass of whisky and an entire bottle of alcohol (Cal's usual) together cost three coins.
