The Dead
The Dead are mysterious Fluters with bright-green sclerae who may be from beyond the grave. Notably, unlike other Fluters, the Dead do not have marks on their forehead, leading them to also be called No-Marks.<ref>http://www.rice-boy.com/vattu/index.php?c=052</ref> They are also larger and stronger than other Fluters (one alone can kill and carry a Garu Cat<ref>http://www.rice-boy.com/vattu/index.php?c=043</ref>), although the origin of this difference is unknown. "Living" Fluters are thus extremely wary of the Dead and their actions, and will try to appease them when possible.
The Dead generally dress in heavy furs, like Priestess, although their clothing may be made of Garu Cat fur, not Torgut. They also wear bark armor, and wield short swords as well as throwing-axes. Their weaponry is made of metal, indicating that they are more technologically advanced than the white-marked tribe, or that they trade with other Overside civilizations.
On p047, Vattu is kidnapped by one of the Dead.
Stones of the Dead
The Stones of the Dead are rocks that have been carved with particular symbols, which presumably are the marks of Fluters that have died. In this way, they may be similar to tombstones. Fluters who pass them are expected to pay their respects in silence.<ref>http://www.rice-boy.com/vattu/index.php?c=028</ref>
