The Plague

The Plague is an enigmatic alien sickness that was brought to Underside at the beginning of the Blue Age. It arrived with the White Formless from the Void, the space surrounding the Disk.[1][2] Before the Plague, Underside was inhabited by many native peoples, but the Plague killed nearly all of them and poisoned the once-abundant Trills. It also succeeded in "driving away" the Avatar of Mind.[3]
The Linking Cities (built throughout the Green Age after Overside's discovery of Underside) were also destroyed in an attempt to seal off the Plague from Overside. All but Seen were successfully demolished. Since it had been built over a Linking City, Old Suntown was also destroyed.
The Plague directly led to the delivery of Ridrom's Prophecy, which established the line of Fulfillers. The Avatar of Time also personally contacted three people, who became the Searchers in service of the Prophecy.
In Chapter 33, the book read by Kerküsk in the Library of Seen is "one of the Disk's oldest accounts" of the Plague.
