The Torch

The Torch is the name given to the group of east Acircan mercenaries and soldiers that are led by Rog Torchlord during the time of Order of Tales. Most of the Torch is made up of Blackbirds and Shade-kin. Collectively, they are sometimes known as Torch-Folk,[1] although that name also can serve as a derogatory term for belligerent east Acircans or Blackbirds.[2] Their capital is known as Torchtown.

Timeline
The Torch formed in Red 221, when the powerful Rog Torchlord conquered Chira, making it his own. From this base of operations, he gathered together east Acircan peoples, and by Red 225 the Torchlord's control of Chira (now Torchtown) and the Shadow Monument was widely recognized. The Torch continued to expand, and by the early Red 230s it had begun to creep into western Acirca. When the Torchlord learned of the Bottle Woman in Red 233, he aggressively sent his forces west, and the Torch was able to successful sack both Stonepalm and Tenshells in the coming years.
The fate of the Torch after the end of Order of Tales is unknown, although it likely has fully dissolved by the fourth Red century.
Symbol
The main symbol of the Torch is a Seen-Script "R" (for Rog), although there also is a sunburst pattern, as shown on Æthirus' cloak and the carriage from p191.
