Vattu (pronounced /vætu/) is one of the central characters in Evan Dahm's third full-length comic, Vattu. She was born to Tattu, a Fluter, in the year Blue 855, which is 2,014 years before the events of Rice Boy.

Her infancy and first turning are shown at the beginning of Book 1. During this time, she is cared for by Seri and other members of the tribe, and secretly loathed by young Vanni. Vattu is at one point kidnapped by the Dead, who are in search of the world-in-a-box, although she is rescued by Hunter and his party.

After the comic skips forward 20 years on p072, Vattu is shown as a child. Against the wishes of Hunter, she spends her time alone, leaving the Fluter camp to hunt wildlife. She seems to be skeptical and questioning of the norms of Fluter life.

Vattu's character design was shown on Assetbar and Ustream months before the comic began. The first poster for Vattu featured her standing under a tree near the River Tarria with a Shira raptor.<ref>http://www.twitpic.com/1pxgy9/full</ref><ref>http://twitpic.com/1rmm9g/full</ref><ref>http://www.rice-boy.com/art/vattupreview1.png</ref> She is also central in the "Possession" print, where she stands looking out at the cultural tools of the Fluters arrayed before her, with the world-in-a-box in the foreground.<ref>http://www.rice-boy.com/art/possessionpre.jpg</ref>
